Lakshi Bala, the winning woman to promote milk consumption and small commercialization
Lakshmi Bala, the struggling widow of Manda Upazila under Naogaon District lives on a tea stall in the bazaar to sustain her family of 7 members. SDVC Project of CARE Bangladesh, advised this hard working woman to extend her product line with liquid milk and additional milk products e.g. Sweets, Ghee etc with an aim to encourage milk consumption as well as promote women empowerment. SDVC team also promoted her with an inauguration program of her shop, with an innovative name ‘Milk Bar’, consisting of a rally with school students and words of encouragement about milk consumption by esteemed local persons and govt. stakeholders. Lakhmi Bala was jovial while expressing her thoughts about her win against poverty stating that her income had doubled.
