Government of Bangladesh has implemented the Second National Plan of Action for Nutrition 2016-2025 –NPAN 2 according to National Nutrition Policy 2015. For implementing the NPAN 2 district and sub-district nutrition committee has been established officially in 2018. Formulation of annual nutrition plan is one of the main responsibilities of district and sub-district nutrition committee. To formulate a real, achievable as well as demand driven multi-sectoral response nutrition plan for Derai Upazila two workshops have been held at Rajanagar Union Parishad and Derai Upazila last week. The workshops has supported by Collective Impact for Nutrition – CI4N as its mandate to formulation a District Nutrition Action Plan for 2019-20 for Sunamganj. The process has initiated from Derai and will conducted rest 10 sub districts accordingly. On May 19, 2019, Sunday, union level workshop was held in Union Parisad Room which has been chaired by Union Parisad Chairman. UDCC member of Rajanagar Union Parisad participated in the workshop to formulate demand based Nutrition Action plan for 2019-20 for Rajanagar Union. The following day Upazila nutrition workshop has been held in the training room of Upazila Health complex Derai on last Monday, May 20, 2019. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Shariful Islam, honorable UNO of Derai Upazila who is also the president of UNNC. Welcome speech was delivered by Md. Monjur Alam Choudhury, Upazila Chairman and honorable advisor of UNCC. Residential medical officer, Dr. Sumon Roy Choudhury delivered welcome speech in the workshop. Honorable chairman, secretaries and female members of all nine Union Parisads of Derai Upazila were presented in the workshop as well as, actively participated in making of nine different annual nutrition plan for their own union. Sree Arup Ratan Das hosted the whole workshop who works for Collective Impact for nutrition, one of the project of CARE Bangladesh. Therefore, Senior Technical Coordinator – Advocacy, M Hafijul Islam, Technical Manager, Md. Hassnuzzaman, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Romana Afrose Meem, Upazila Technical Officer, Md. Nazmul Hasan, Amrita Paul and Development Trainee, Jannatun Nayem who are working for CARE Bangladesh also participated in the workshop. Nine initial Annual Nutrition Action Plans were developed for nine union which has been combined in one plan of the Upazila through the collective involvement as well as with due sincere efforts of all in the workshop, and the concerned Union Parishad chairmen promised to implement the plan and hoped for all cooperation. The President of Upazila Nutrition Coordination Committee gave directions for further implementation based on the information taken in his affirmation. According to plan, the total process of Annual Nutrition Action Plan 2019-20 is expected to be completed by June 31, 2019.
