CARE Bangladesh’ Urban Health Team awarded 2nd Prize in Digital Innovation Fair 2022

CARE Bangladesh’ Urban Health Team was awarded the 2nd prize in Category 4 (Education, Skill Development, and Employment) in the Digital Innovation Fair on November 16 – 17, 2022, jointly organized by the District Commissioner’s office in Gazipur and a2i. The Urban Health Team acquired this title through the establishment of digital Wellbeing centres in 10 communities in 10 selected wards under Gazipur City Corporation, which ensures telemedicine services and create and promote women entrepreneurship (the Wellbeing Center Supervisors) for creating access to health and services at an affordable price for the low-income population. The Urban Health team has also introduced comprehensive Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines (SNVM) in 6 schools and 1 Urban Primary Healthcare Center, creating a digital solution for improving adolescent and menstrual health.



The country-wide Digital Innovation Fair 2022 is an initiative of the GoB in cooperation with a2i to promote, inspire and present the multifaceted activities of various departments of the government and the process of providing services to the public. Innovative activities of various departments and NGOs and efforts to deliver services to people's doorsteps are highlighted here. This year, the fair’s main theme is 'Udbhabony Joyullashe Smart Bangladesh.’ On November 17, 2022, District Commissioner Mr. Anisur Rahman attended the historic Bhawal Rajbari ground of the city as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winning institutions participating in the fair. A total of 40 innovative projects and digital services of various organizations were displayed at the two-day fair. CARE Bangladesh displayed telemedicine services of the wellbeing centers and the sanitary napkin vending machines in their stall. It may be noted that two projects related to strengthening of COVID 19 prevention and vaccination and the Emergency Communication Management (ECM) are being implemented by CARE Bangladesh in Gazipur City Corporation area.
