A National Level Advocacy and Sensitization Workshop on “Drug Dependency and Health Needs of People Who Inject Drugs (PWID)” was held on 26th October’2017 at Milton Auditorium, BSMMU, Shahbag. This Workshop has been jointly organized by BSMMU and CARE Bangladesh with the support of Global Fund, Save the Children and AIDS/STD Program (ASP) under DGHS of MoHFW.
The objective of this workshop is to increase awareness of respective departments of BSMMU on risk and vulnerability of PWID, types of service needs and required treatment supports for PWID. In this workshop Prof. Dr. A.S.M Zakaria, Pro-VC (Academic), BSMMU was present as chief guest, Dr. Belal Hossain, Deputy Director & Program Manager, ASP as Special Guest and Brig. Gen. Md. Abdullah-Al-Harun, Director-Hospital, BSMMU was present as Chairperson. Apart from guests, a total of 45 participants were attended in the event where 7 Departments’ representatives from BSMMU, 3 representatives from impact population and rest of the participants from other stakeholders. Additional Director- Hospital has been selected as focal person for continuing next course of actions.
