CARE Bangladesh signs MoU with Green Delta Insurance Ltd. for non-traditional financing (NTF) for rural smallholder farmers

MoU signed between CARE Bangladesh and Green Delta Insurance Ltd. Farzanah Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO took part in the signing ceremony while Walter Mwasaa, Chief of Party, signed the MoU for CARE Bangladesh.

April 30, 2019, Tuesday I Dhaka: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between CARE Bangladesh’s Krishi Utsho Microfranchise and Green Delta Insurance Ltd. for initiating non-traditional financing (NTF) scheme for rural smallholder farmers of Bogura and Jashore. The MoU signing event was held at CARE Bangladesh Dhaka Office and was attended by members from CARE and Green Delta Insurance Ltd. Farzanah Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO from Green Delta Insurance Ltd. took part in the signing ceremony while Walter Mwasaa, Chief of Party signed the MoU for CARE Bangladesh.

This initiative is expected to ensure secure farming for rural smallholder farmers through insurance coverage at their doorsteps. This is a pilot that is being initiated by Green Delta Insurance Ltd. and CARE Bangladesh with funding from MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates), Canada.

Krishi Utsho is an emerging social enterprise that is working to ensure secure farming for smallholder rural farmers. Krishi Utsho works with Bank Asia Ltd. and Green Delta Insurance Company to support rural smallholder farmers with loan and insurance services for farming.
