Observance of National Mourning Day 15th August

Half-mast Bangladesh national flag at CARE Bangladesh Dhaka Office on National Mourning Day'23
15 August, 2023

On this solemn occasion of National Mourning Day, CARE Bangladesh Dhaka office along with our regional, field and hub offices at Rangpur, Sunamganj, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Kishorganj, Cox’s Bazar, Gazipur, Patuakhali - is remembering the unparalleled contributions of the father of our nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

At Dhaka Office, we commenced the day with the solemn flag hoisting at half-mast, symbolizing our tribute to the father of the nation. The staff then engaged in an enlightening discussion session that delved into the life and ideologies of the Father of the Nation. To reflect on his remarkable journey a video was also screened.

An interactive session was hosted by Md. Towfique Bin Anis, National Safety & Security Manager providing a platform for insightful discussion. Colleagues from all departments, including Ikhtiar Uddin Khandaker, Director of the Health Unit, shared insights, highlighting the vibrant journey of our beloved leader.

The discussion was followed by a spirited question and answer session, during which Iqbal Hossain Khan, GoB Liaison Advisor, shared his profound knowledge as a witness during the liberation war. He encouraged all attendees to explore the depths of Bangabandhu's wisdom through three essential books: "Oshomapto Attojiboni" (The Unfinished Memoirs), "Karagarer Rojnamcha" (The Prison Diaries), and "Amar Dekha Noya Chin."

The dialog also included some heart-touching recollections of Bangabandhu’s assassination by Sazzad Hossain, Program Support Coordinator • SHOUHARDO III Plus project and Chairperson of the Staff Wellbeing Association.

In a heartfelt conclusion to the observance, a Duaa’ Mahfil was arranged, also led by Sazzad Hossain, the gathering served as a prayer to his departed soul.

As we remember the life and contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of our Nation, let us also renew our commitment to upholding his values of justice, equality, and progress. Together, we aspire to shape a brighter future for our nation, just as he envisioned.
