On 3 October 2026, CARE Bangladesh and SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Development (DYD), convened a workshop on developing a Joint Action Plan under the #JAGORON Project to strengthen youth development and economic empowerment in Bangladesh.

The workshop opened with remarks from Rawnak Jahan, Director, Women and Youth Program, CARE Bangladesh, and Erfan Haque, Deputy Director-IDP, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh. Muhammad Humayun Kabir, Director (Planning) and Deputy Secretary, DYD, outlined the workshop’s objectives and the pathway for collaboration, while Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, National Director, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, emphasized the power of partnership between DYD, SOS and CARE in building a stronger youth ecosystem.

We were honoured by the presence of Md. Motaher Hossain, Director General, DYD, as Chief Guest. Drawing on the experience of the #JAGORON Project, he underscored the importance of establishing a support cell to guide youth toward employment and entrepreneurship, strengthen connections with employers and the private sector, and align skills development with market demands. He also reaffirmed DYD’s commitment to supporting the project and advancing youth economic empowerment.

Senior DYD officials joined teams from CARE and SOS in collaborative group work to define joint roles, explore coordination mechanisms, and agree on shared commitments. Priyasindhu Talukder, Director (Training) and Joint Secretary, DYD, concluded the technical sessions by highlighting key outcomes and providing strategic guidance for future collaboration.

In her closing remarks, Rawnak Jahan reaffirmed the collective commitment of DYD, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, and CARE Bangladesh to creating opportunities for young people across the country.

Together, we are empowering youth with the skills, opportunities, and partnerships needed to transform their futures.
