Transforming Waste into Opportunity and Nutrition.
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)- funded Material Recovery Facilities
From waste to harvest
To tackle growing waste management needs in the camps, CARE Bangladesh, supported by OCHA's Bangladesh Humanitarian Fund (BHF), collects approximately 60 tons of waste every month. Through two Material Recovery Facilities, the waste is transformed into 600 kg of organic compost, creating value for the community while supporting environmental health.
The compost helps Rohingya families grow nutritious vegetables while contributing to cleaner camps and better environmental health.
